Noted industrialist Rahul Bajaj is no more

 Mumbai.Renowned industrialist Rahul Bajaj passed away on Saturday at the age of 83. He was the chairman of Bajaj Group. He was instrumental in taking the Bajaj Group to its heights over five decades. Rahul Bajaj was born on 10 June 1938 in Kolkata. He took over the command of Bajaj Group in 1965. In 2005, he left his post of chairman. After this his son Rajiv Bajaj took over this responsibility.

The Government of India honored Rahul Bajaj with Padma Bhushan in 2001. From 2006 to 2010, Rahul Bajaj was also a member of the Rajya Sabha. In 2008, he split Bajaj Auto into three units. This includes Bajaj Auto, finance company Bajaj Finserv and a holding company. Rahul Bajaj was the grandson of Jamnalal Bajaj, a prominent supporter of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
